Windows Alarm Clock Usage

End User License AgreementEnd User License Agreement:

When you run the app for the first time, it displays the Accept End User License Agreement dialog. Please read the agreement carefully. Click the "I Accept" button to accept the agreement to continue. Once you accepted the agreement, the next time you run the app, it will not display the Accept End User License Agreement again, and will display the main window instead.

Note: if you decide not to accept the agreement by clicking the "I Decline" button, the app will exit and you will not be able to use the app.

Initial Main WindowMain Window - no alarm set up yet:

The main window is divided into three panes.

  1. The upper left pane contains a button to allow you to "Add Alarm", and "Remove Alarm".
  2. The lower left pane contains a list of all the alarms that you have set up. This list is empty the first time you run the app.
  3. The right pane displays the alarm setting for the selected alarm in the list.

To add an alarm, click the "Add Alarm" button, and the right pane will show the alarm settings for the alarm:

  • Alarm Start Time - set this for the time you want the alarm to go off.
  • Repeat Time Interval - select this check box if you want the alarm to repeat after it first went off, and set the desired time interval for the alarm to repeat. Note that if the check box is not checked, you will not be able to change the desired repeat time interval, and the alarm will not repeat. i.e. it will only go off once, at the time set up as the Alarm Start Time.
  • Alert Message When Alarm Fire - message to be output when the alarm goes off. The app uses the Windows Text To Speech engine to convert this message into an audio stream. This message is also used as the name of the alarm in the list of alarms in the lower left pane. When the alarm is first created, this message is automatically populated with one of 4 preset messages. You should change it for your own purpose, for the following reasons: Since this message is used as the name of the alarm for the list of alarms in the lower left pane, if you don't change the message, eventually, you will have alarms with the same name in the list, which can caused confusion when you look at the list. Plus it will also caused confusion when the alarm goes off where you cannot distinguish between which alarm actually went off.
  • Alert Message Repeat Count - number of times to repeat the message when the alarm goes off.
  • Alert Message Volume - controls the volume of the audio output of the alarm.
  • Enable Alarm - click this button to enable the alarm. Once the alarm is enabled, the text of the button will change to display "Disable Alarm". When the alarm is enabled, you will not be able to change the settings of the alarm. To change the settings, first disable the alarm then make the changes, and finally enable it.

Main WindowMain Window - with alarms set up:

After you have added a few alarms, the main window will be displayed as what's shown on the right. Here, 5 alarms were added and shown on the list of alarms on the lower left pane. The alarms that are enabled are displayed in green (either black text on green background, or green text on black background), and the alarms that are disabled are displayed in red (either black text on red background, or red text on black background). If the alarm is selected, the background is displayed in black, but the text will be green, if the alarm is enabled, or red if the alarm is disabled. For alarm(s) that are not selected, the text will be in black, and the background is green if the alarm is enabled, or red if the alarm is disabled. So, for the example screen shot, two alarms are disabled, and three alarms are enabled. The last alarm is selected, and it is enabled. To remove an alarm, select the alarm in the list of alarms on the lower left pane, and click the "Remove Alarm" button on the upper left pane. To change the alarm settings, first select the alarm from the list of alarms on the lower left pane, the right pane will display the settings for the selected alarm. Disable the alarm (if it is enabled), change the alarm settings, and then re-enable the alarm by clicking the "Enable Alarm" button. All alarms' settings will be saved when you close the app.
